Ecology
The specimens were found on a metal settlement plate that was located within Manly harbour, which is subject to heavy boat traffic. The presence of the organism on this plate would indicate that this species could be considered to be part of a biofouling community, with some studies showing that sea anemones can not only have a direct impact on how the community composition forms but can also act as a bio-control agent (Atala et al. 2013, Nelson & Craig 2011).

Conditions in the harbour would suggest that the species is capable of living in a eutrophic environment, where the water is considered sub-tropical in temperature range and subject to infrequent disturbances such as storms.
